Role: Volunteer Support Worker
We are seeking to recruit a new team member to support the delivery of our Positive Family Futures programme – an innovative project that provides an opportunity to join up a range of services for families and individuals within them living in the NE Glasgow communities. The aim of the project is to encourage participants to make positive changes within their own lives and become co-producers of the services.
We are looking for a Volunteer Support Worker who will support a service user involvement group as well as identifying and encouraging individuals to take up relevant volunteering opportunities.
Rosemount Lifelong Learning is a charity based in Royston, Glasgow. Our mission is to increase life chances through learning for children, young people and adults living in Royston and wider Glasgow area. Our services include childcare, employability training, community learning including literacy and numeracy and ESOL and services to support local families.

During the 2017 Summer Programme the family links team completed 327,659 steps, 129.23 miles and 699 floors. All the steps, miles and floors were completed whilst visiting several locations for the summer programme. The locations include Culzean Country Park, Ayr Beach, Arthurs Seat, Silversands Beach, Blair Drummond Safari Park and many more.
Congratulations to Yowhana who has just passed her SQA ITC Core Skills qualification.
Yowhana and Biniam have worked together as part of our IT learning project for speakers of other languages than English. Yowhana has been supported on a 1:1 basis by Biniam who has supported her as a volunteer IT Tutor. Yowhana has been supported on a 1:1 basis by Biniam who has supported her as a volunteer IT Tutor. Yowhana and Biniam are both from Eritrea and are Tigrinya speakers. Biniam has been able to support Yowhana’s IT learning by teaching her and using their shared language. This is a fantastic achievement for both of them. Yowhana started with the project as a total beginner in terms of IT. Biniam has worked very hard with her and is a great teacher. Yowhanas success reflects both their hard work.
In late 2015, Ade Kearns professor of Urban Studies at Glasgow University started to raise money for Rosemount Lifelong Learning along with 3 other local organisations having taken an interest in the communities through his involvement with the GOWell Project. He sought sponsorship to run a tremendous 25 races each 10 kilometres over the coming two years.
Ade came along to Rosemount Lifelong Learning today and presented a cheque for £675.75 after his final race in January 2017 completing all 25 races in a jaw-dropping 16 months.
