Childcare

Happy children at nursery

Childcare

Rosemount Lifelong Learning has been providing quality childcare for 15 years. We put the children at the centre of everything we do and we want your child to be a happy, confident and successful learner.

Our brand new nursery building provides care for children aged 2 to 5 years. We currently have two rooms; The Buttercups room for 2-3 year olds and The Cove for 3-5 year olds.

We have a team of highly motivated and enthusiastic childcare workers with a balance of mature and younger staff. We have an excellent staff retention rate which offers your child stability and consistency.  Our nursery is managed by fully qualified staff registered by the SSSC and all of our childcare workers are qualified or working towards a qualification.

We have an onsite cook who prepares healthy and nutritious meals, as well as breakfasts and snacks. We cater for any dietary and cultural requirements.

If you would like to hear more, or are interested in enrolling your child into the nursery, please contact lorna.carlyle@rosemount.ac.uk.

Nursery Curriculum

The staff working in our Buttercups room follow the Pre-Birth to Three curriculum, and work under these 4 Key Principles: Rights of the child, Relationships, Responsive Care, and Respect.

Staff working in The Cove work follow the Curriculum for Excellence. The purpose of Curriculum for Excellence is to ensure that all the children and young people of Scotland develop attributes, knowledge and skills they will need if they are to flourish in life, learning and work, now and in the future. The aims of Curriculum for Excellence are that every child and young person should know they are valued and will be supported to become a successful learner, an effective contributor, a confident individual and a responsible citizen. These are the four capacities embedded within Curriculum for Excellence.

Our childcare staff also use In the Moment Planning. The staff carry out regular observations of children’s individual interests and develop their knowledge further by providing new and challenging opportunities. Children’s individual key workers complete online learning journals on a rolling programme where they record target observations on development and ongoing stories of children’s development.

Parents have access to the learning journals through the Parents App and are encouraged to share events from home. This enables parents and staff to work together to achieve children’s individual goals, at the same time continuing to
enhance the child’s development through a sense of belonging and trust with caring committed staff.

Staff also follow the principles of GIRFEC (Getting It Right for Every Child) in relation to SHANARRI well-being indicators – we want our nursery to be a happy, nurturing place for your child to grow and develop. We continuously work to support our children in all areas of the curriculum whilst taking into consideration their wellbeing. The wellbeing indicators are:

Safe, Healthy, Active, Nurtured, Achieving, Responsible,
Respected, Included

We work hard to ensure that our daily work meets these needs through activities, games, outings, outdoor play, caring and responsive staff who actively listen and respond to children’s needs.

Fees & Funding

Rosemount Lifelong Learning Nursery understands the cost of childcare may seem expensive to parents/carers, but we believe that we are able to provide a high quality, safe and stimulating service for children at an affordable cost to you.

Fees are calculated and divided so they will be equal every week over a 50-week period.

We are proud to be working in partnership with Glasgow City Council Early Years to deliver 1140 hours of funded childcare for all 3-5 year olds and eligible 2s*. As we operate 50 weeks of the year this enables access to 23 hours childcare delivered over 2.5 days per week. We also offer parents the option to purchase additional childcare hours.

Our hourly rate is currently £3.85 per hour for 3-5 year olds and eligible
2 year olds
*.

For our Under 3s our competitive fees are:

Weekly – £165
Daily – £40
Half Day – £
30

We also offer childcare places for parents who are returning to further
education
. You may be eligible via your college or university for childcare
costs. Funding must be in place prior to your child joining us. Please note that you are liable for all fee payments.

*Further information for eligible 2s can be accessed below. If you have further queries regarding eligible 2s and whether you may be able to apply, feel free to discuss this with the childcare manager.
